Hello, Mardi Gras weekend! While the official day of Mardi Gras is Fat Tuesday Feb. 21st, festivities bring in the stumbling crowds beginning Friday morning, and Tulane students act as hosts to friends from far and wide.
For New Orleans regulars, the attire is standard year after year, with rugby shirts, fanny packs, and countless strings of beads the acceptable pieces. Looking to fit in? We caught up with a recent Tulane grad and Kappa sorority member, Harley, to get the low-down on the go-to outfits.
Where does one find the classic Mardi Gras Rugby shirt? Harley: You have to go to Perils on Magazine Street to get the authentic ones. They are literally like a uniform, and people end up wearing them every day… without washing them. (more…)
